Anonymous asked: Hi Tim
I'm applying for Epik's Spring intake (next month!) Chungbuk's a possibility for placement. What's it like there?
Thanks, PriyaHi Priya, thanks for the message! I love living in Chungcheongbuk-do. I live in Cheongju which is the largest city in the province, with around 650,000 people. Many of my friends from EPIK orientation last Spring live in Chungju. It’s the second largest city with about 150,000 people I think. They’re about an hour apart from each other by bus. I like Chungbuk because it’s close to Seoul but not too close. I can only stand the large crowds of Seoul for so long before I want some peace and quiet. The only risky thing about applying to Chungbuk province is you could possibly get stuck in a tiny town with very few other foreigners. Some of my friends live in small towns around Chungbuk but they like it. Some of them work at several schools which means they make more money. And Chungbuk is not very large so if you do get stuck somewhere, it’s easy to travel around on the weekends. I hope this helps! Feel free to message me if you have any other questions. :-)
